The Tideline Journal is an independent family health almanac for rural coastal households. It publishes plain language guides on the subjects that fill a family's medical calendar: first visits and annual physicals at a family practice, dental care from the first tooth onward, first counseling sessions and bullying response, sliding fee scales and community walking programs. Every guide is written in the third person, names the public source behind each recommendation, and sends the reader back to a clinician for anything individual.

What this site is

A magazine, not a clinic. The Tideline Journal sells nothing, books nothing, diagnoses nothing and answers no personal medical question. It reads the publicly available guidance of bodies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MedlinePlus, the American Dental Association and the Health Resources and Services Administration, and turns that guidance into pages a household can use before and after appointments. The editorial line is skeptical of miracle claims, fond of arithmetic, and convinced that the cheapest health care is the kind that is understood before the bill arrives.

The domain's earlier life

This domain previously carried the website of a community health center in coastal Maine, which later moved to its own current address. The Tideline Journal is not that organization, does not speak for it, and holds no connection to it. What the site does is keep the useful local subject matter alive in magazine form: the first visit walkthrough, the children's dental health habits, the payment options of community health care and the community walking track all continue themes the earlier site covered for its town, rebuilt from public guidance rather than copied. Addresses that carried real pages are served at the same paths, and the rest of the old structure is redirected to the nearest new page.

How the site is edited

Pages are written and revised by The Tideline Journal editorial team, dated on publication, and checked against their named sources at each revision. Where official recommendations move, as screening ages and schedules do, the pages move with them after verification. Corrections are welcome by email and are applied without ceremony. The journal does not accept sponsored articles, does not publish guest posts from commercial sources, and links outward only to public bodies and reference libraries whose pages support a specific claim.
